New Jersey State Parks - Stokes State Forest

"This campground is a state campground, so it's only $15 per night. The campsites are very private and wooded, which is a wonderful provision. However, it is black bear country, and the ranger will tell you to keep your coolers in the vehicle at all times. I found this somewhat annoying since I've never had to hide the cooler, but between us and nearby campers, we spotted at least four cubs and bears on a three day weekend. So the ranger is on the money for protection. If you follow basic rules (no eating in tent, no food in tent, no soap or deodorant in tent) and keep all food items in the car, the bears will stay far away. We liked it, and we're going back group camping next month."
